North Alabama's Unions Participated in No Kings Day Protests

On Saturday, June 14 at 11:00 a.m., unionleaders and members in North Alabama joined the “No Kings” rally to protest Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s barrage of attacks on federal workers, our immigrant neighbors and the critical services that veterans, seniors, workers and children rely on. The North Alabama Area Labor Council (NAALC) will not be silent while this administration gives more tax cuts to the ultra-rich while threatening the Medicaid funding that keeps rural hospitals open, the postal service that delivers us essential mail and the federal agencies that ensure our workplaces are safe.
"North Alabama's unions oppose attempts to make life worse for working people for the benefit of the Billionaire class,” said NAALC President Jacob Morrison.
According to reports, there were around 4,000 attendees in Huntsville and millions nationwide.
WAFF, AL(dot)com, Rocket City Now, and Alabama Political Reporter all provided coverage for the event locally. Luis Leon wrote about the protests nationally, labor's involvement, and what it could mean for In These Times. Staff at the American Prospect had a round-up of reports from across the country. Branko Marcetic wrote about how deep into Trump country the protests got for Jacobin.
